Good to be home!

We just got back from a few days on Molokai. We had to cross over on a small ferry there and back. It is like riding a bucking bronco while holding a baby for almost 2 hours. I will not be doing that again but was informed by long time local passenger that we were lucky. He said that some days the waves go over the boat. I can't imagine doing that! We made it alive and as you can see from the pictures, it was worth it. This island is very remote feeling and unpopulated. There are plumeria trees of every color all over. We spotted a crimson one that I have never seen. The hotel was in town and was on the ocean. The only problem was the Friday night entertainment went a little out of control. When we heard there was going to be entertainment we thought yeah some mellow slack key guitar or ukulele. We went to dinner and there was some Hawaiian music live but then the next band came on and there neon yellow shirts should have indicated something. They started as soon as we hit our room exhausted and just wanting to pass out. They continued till midnight rocking 70's covers loud enough to feel like I was laying next to their speaker. Kora was up all night so were we. Next day I wanted to get up and out to make up for that rough night. We visited the local Sat. market and we bought somethings like t-shirt, handmade coconut and goatskin drum for kora, fresh sweet bread, homemade cookies, small watercolor of the cliffs. After that we got in our rental car and cruised the coast. We drove a winding narrow road with nearly no other cars. We stopped for lunch and took it to the end of the road. Tourists were parked there to hike to the base of a waterfall. We had to make the ferry so we couldn't do it this time. You can see the waterfall in the picture if you look.
We were so happy to be home after only a few days. I don't know how I will be when we visit the main land for nearly a month even though I look forward to seeing family. Love, lauren
