The Vacations over!

Here we are in NZ going on six months. We just had a weeks worth of celebrations. First Matthew turned 31. We had balloons, a banner, cards and presents. I even tried my hand at an icecream cake of sorts. The kiwis love their sweets but don't have customary birthday cakes. I did get 30 candles lit for a wish. The next celebration was Valentines day. We had a nice candle lit dinner at home. A few days later was our three year anniversary of meeting. Now it's back to the grind.
I am working full time and Matthews has got a full schedule. Seven more months here so we are trying to enjoy all the unique things. It is muggy today with showers this morning. There are flowers still blooming. People say it gets real cold here in the winter. Nothing can be colder than a winter in New England. We always have Jude for warmth.
We miss everyone and can't wait to call soon.
Take care ,Lauren and Matthew

I can't wait for the flowers to start blooming around here - the temps have been warm for this time of year - it was in the 50's yesterday - but if poured out all day. It's beautiful but chilly out this morning. Danny has the week off from school - Shannon is missing that luxury. He has been accepted at 2 colleges so far - one local and one in Arizona - of course you know where he wants to go!! Well off to work - Love, Patty

Hello Again,
Sounds like you folks have had some nice celebrations. Those special moments will help to make your hectic schedule more tolerable. I wish we could visit now when all of those beautiful flowers are in bloom. Oh well, I am sure that their Winter months will be just as unique. Best of luck with your new schedules, both work and school. love to you both!

I caught up on your blog today while babysitting Nola. I don't know if you can call it babysitting when it is your own child but you get the idea. Cathie started back at work so I am holding down the fort.
This is a cool blog with great photos.
No birthday cake? What kind of civilization is that?
Does "7 more months" mean you are leaving at the end of 2008? Where to next?
